Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas is the adult version of Rudolph, that still has all the charm and wonderful weirdness of Rudolph. This comedy Christmas special is a balance of adorable visuals and “too real” moments about what Christmas is like as a young adult. The episode is worth a re-watch, or even if you’ve never seen the show you’ll still enjoy this episode, because it’s got all the whimsy and comic relief you need during the holidays.

Spongebob has a few Christmas specials, but “Christmas Who?” is by far my favourite. Whether you relate to Spongebob’s insane enthusiasm or Squidward’s apathy about the holidays, this episode will always make you laugh. The special reminds us all that Christmas should be about giving others hope and believing in the kindness of each other. Also, crazy Santa laughing and shaking his head at the end is worth it.

The earlier seasons of the Simpsons have some Christmas shows that are always worth a re-watch for me. My favourites are, “Marge Be Not Proud”, “Grift of the Magi”, “Skinner’s Sense of Snow”, “Miracle on Evergreen Terrace”  and “Simpsons Roasting On an Open Fire”. Nothing says the Christmas spirit like dysfunctional family shenanigans and letting go of the idea that everything has to be perfect one day a year.

American Dad has a great running Christmas special series with The Smith family versus Santa. But my favourite Christmas episode of theirs by far, is “Minstrel Krampus”. I believe they’re the first show that did a comedic and American adaptation, of Krampus, and it’s amazing. The Disney Beauty and the Beast homage mixed with the classic folklore is hilarious, and having Santa be the villain makes it a fresh Christmas story.

Finally, Adventure Time’s two part Christmas special “Holly Jolly Secrets” is not a typical Christmas story but it has all the feel-good cozy vibes you need. Also, the special gets you to think about how each family, or group of people, create different traditions with each other. If you don’t know anything about the show, the special is still fun to watch, but to fully appreciate the hilarity of the Ice King, you should also check out a few previous episodes! They’re only ten minute long shows, so it’s worth watching a couple of them!
